An Exciting Week for the Kelsey Smith Act

There has been much movement on the Kelsey Smith Act, or legislation modeled after the Kelsey Smith Act recently and we are excited with the news!

ALBERTA, CANADA
We reported last year that the province of Alberta, Canada, had a version of the Kelsey Smith Act (known as the Missing Persons Act, Bill 8) which had been sponsored by Assemblyman VanderBurg. Mr. VanderBurg read Kelsey's story and my emailed testimony into the record during the debate in Alberta.

Kelsey Smith Act to Be Heard in Hawaii

The Kelsey Smith Act is in bill form in Hawaii as Senate Bill 2247 (SB 2247). http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/measure_indiv.aspx?billtype=SB&billnumber=...

It is scheduled for a hearing tomorrow 01/26/2012 at 2:50 PM HAST. The bill is sponsored by Senator Espero (http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/memberpage.aspx?member=espero)

Aisha Khan Case - Thank You

The Kelsey Smith Foundation is pleased with the outcome of the Aisha Khan case. Thank you to the Overland Park Police Department for your dedication. Thank you to the FBI and the other agencies that were involved in bringing this case to a successful outcome. Thank you to the volunteers who came out to look for her and thank you to the media for providing coverage and keeping Aisha's name in the news until she was located.

Aisha has been located. She is safe and unharmed. She was not abducted. No further information is available.

Aisha Khan Case

Tonight we met with the family of Aisha Khan. They are asking for help from the community to help locate Aisha. If you have any information that may you feel could help please contact the Overland Park Police Department.

If you have any information about this incident please contact the Overland Park Police Department or the TIPS hotline.

KSF has not been asked to assist in the search. Our policy is we do not insert ourselves into any active case. We will assist if requested by the missing person's family or law enforcement. We have spoken with law enforcement and they are utilizing all of their resources to find Ms. Khan. Our thoughts and prayers are with her, her family, and friends.
